Roczyny in English
Roczyny is a village in community Andrychow, district Wadowice, Little Poland Voivodship. Roczyny spreads over an area of 818 hectares and is situated at elevation of 280- 350 meters in Beskid Mountains. There are 3800 inhabitants in the village.

The name “Roczyny” was mentioned for the first time in 1457. From 1794 the village was owned by Józef Ankwicz and then his son - Andrzej Alojzy who has sold Roczyny to Bobrowscy family.
The Voluntary Fire Brigade was established on 9th of July 1911. The depot was given to the Voluntary Fire Brigade on 6th of June 1977. Nowadays the depot has a brass band and a team of cheerleaders.

In 1967 Mieszko I Primary School was established in Roczyny and in 1998 secondary school as well.
On 17th of September 1978 the cornerstone of Roczyny’s church was laid by cardinal Karol Wojtyła (further pope Jan Paul II). On 14th of September 1980 church and the vicarage were consecrated by cardinal Franciszek Macharski. The first parish priest was Jan Nowak, MA.
In the village there is also a sport club LKS Burza Roczyny bringing together football lovers.
